I left WHYY long ago, it was not satisfying.

The senior thesis show opens today, I built an installation called "1" which contains 4 pieces: ephemera, reflex #1, organic sculpture #1, and peep show (aka mixed business).

Pictures will soon be coming.

I think i may try to be a construction worker and an art teacher for hs students this summer.

Dynamos: A dream i had.

My ex-girlfriend from highschool had come to Philadelphia to study, but we were at a get together with a bunch of my friends and a house on 43rd and ludlow. Everyone filed out of the room except for me and her, and then she dissappeared. When I left the room, i found my friend tom, and he said that my ex-gf had left, so we decided to race her to her destination.

All of a sudden, tom and i were outside running up many large stone, mossy stairs. Everyone around was yelling at us to stop running because it was rude, but we were flipping them all off as we ran past. When we got to the top, we jumped onto a giant wheeled platform, but tom had transformed into another friend of mine, nick. The platform upon which nick and i stood began accellerating north on 37th street starting on penn's campus. As we reached rediculous speeds, we hit a mailbox. Then, my perspective shifted to outside of my body, where the video of myself (now alone on the platform) hitting the mailbox repeated a good number of times.

Eventually, my dream video-loop thing ended and I returned to my body as i flew off of the platform; in midair i also saw my ex-girlfriend crash her cruiser bike on the side of the road. The moment before i hit the ground, my perspective shifted back out of my body, and i was now flying onto the trolley tracks at 40th and woodland. I hit the tracks and crumpled.

Then, the tracks became a conveyor belt, and i got caught in it and was being pulled into the mechanics of it, then the conveyor belt became full of rocks which pulverized my body until it also became made of stone.

The trolley track conveyor belt then pulled me down the tunnel at 40th and woodland where i knew i was turned into cement, although it was not visualized.

at the moment my rock body became no longer visible, i saw myself fly out of a kiddie pool full of dirt and land on a bed of pillows. at the moment of my landing, my perspective returned to my eyes; also, i noticed that my armpits felt a burning sensation. nick was already sitting next to me, and i asked him, "nick, did i borrow your jalepeno deodorant, because my armpits are really burning right now."

at that moment i sat up from my sleep, completely awake, but i just yelled "dynamos!" and i somehow knew that was the name of my dream.

I'm in!

So I'm down here in Virginia working with my friend Joshua Quinn and the fine people of The Firehouse Theatre on a show which shares its title with this blog post.

I was contracted as an artisan sculptor and am in charge of the construction of props and costumes out of cardboard and various other materials for some really great child actors.

I don't want to give too many surprises away in case by some internet happenstance, someone who reads this plans on going to the show (which runs December 18th-January 18th), but I will provide the following hints:

So, I have a cyst on my tailbone and I broke a rib. I'm on vicodin and trying to keep up.

Luckily, everything else is coming up roses. Through You is coming up, the closing ceremonies of the Olympics occurred (which were awesome) so now we can go back to the gymnastic-less type of foreign relations (sad)(dsa)(das), the propaganda panel piece is rapidly approaching, and I'm about to begin my final year at this educational institution.

Six classes and three jobs are going to take their toll on me though. Oof.

I have narrowed the list of homes to 41 options to be reviewed by the other involved parties.

I think that my panel is going to be about the malleability of information.

Damn i was mad the other day when i saw that someone had made a very similar device to one i had been designing. It was a midi sequencer that played off of paper (theirs was much different in technology than mine, but close in aesthetic nonetheless).

So, I just paid the end of my monetary legal obligation to my erstwhile corrupt lord & lady land lordies. Lost checks and south philly punk destruction parties thrust into my home did not make for the best of lawish (sic) standing.

But now, poorer, I am rid of the situation.

So ... I turned on the international dick-measuring contest called the XXIX OLYMPIAD. And guess what, a bunch of 14-year-old Chinese girls have bigger dicks than the collective whole of the American populous. And I say, hats off to those dicks.

Honestly, watching the Gymnasts made me realize how much more the Chinese deserved to win than we Americans. They had more fun, they played around more, and furthermore, they managed to win without the use of bodies that looked jam-packed with neck-seeking steroids. They seemed to be in their element and completely comfortable accomplishing outlandish tasks while also seemingly retaining some semblance of comfort within the bounds of their corporeal forms.

Kudos.

Also, I hear Mr. Phelps is an impersonal, dismissive, and rude man. Apparently my friend swam with him once. I trust this character analysis to be accurate.

Well, much has happened since my last post.

I have been working like a dog on my thing for Psychedelphia (which went down this past weekend). It was a great time and a lot of people showed up and a lot of people went into my machine (which I decided was either untitled or named Gladys Kleinmann). She flashed and yelled at them inwardly (with a little coaxing from myself, and I was a blast.

Sadly, she was damaged in transport and during operation by the wind and viewers unaccustomed to crawling gingerly, respectively, but I fixed her up some and, in any case, I have about 200 more camera bodies to use for a similar project in the future. So, I'm not too upset (although I definitely was very crabby at the close of Psychedelphia).

My puppet performance with Ms. Leslie Rogers and other Spiral Q folk at Nadia Hironaka& Matt Suib's Soft Epic video installation was a blast (I was a jumpsuited rooster who crowed, pecked, and pulled fire from the wall.

Oh, and I am going to be relocating myself to Kensington this coming year it seems. I met up with some great people and some great studio space at Art Making Machine Studios. Pretty damn neeet.

Alright, I guess I'd better go do more work instead of discussing that which is done and therefore needs no more doing.

So, my class under Mr. Gabriel Martinez had its installation opening tonight. Extrapersonal Science is the name of the show and it was a blast. I made a motion sensor casio instrument for it, called the Tetragrammaphonium.

I played a show in Swarthmore that I apparently get paid for (yay!) and there was a gorgeous wood block poster for it that i got to keep. On this poster, my "J" was carved backwards, but I kinda liked it.

Just got a letter from Nadia with a thanks and a DVD from Principles of Uncertainty. Happy happy.

My good friend Phil Rocco recently showed me an unreleased trilogy of films starring Groovin' Gary, Sean Penn, and Crispin Glover. It involved growing silliness with each iteration. Therefore, I have decided to write a sequel/tribute film.

I am already finished with the outline of this script, now I just need to actually put pen to paper, or, more accurately, fingers to keys. In any case, it is dark, also good, in my personal opinion.

So, I decided that since I have another very similar camera ... and since the thought of testing all of the possibilities of wire combinations on the CC007, I decided to not bother, instead just enjoying the constituent components of this fine machine.

This brings me to my next point, I took out the CCD thangy from the camera, and it is a beast. When I first saw it, I thought It would make an excellent gun for my movie (a space gun), so I decided to remove all of the loose wires from it to make it more sleek, to do so, I had to unscrew some screws and take it apart a little further to get the wires out well. When I did this, my whole plan for this piece changed. It is now the main barrel of what I think will be Wolf's hyperdimensional space craft (pictured below).

This ship will soon join the ranks of the first things accomplished for my movie, one of the other being the photographs I took of a spaceship I had made using aluminum foil, duct tape, and an empty Old English 40 oz. malt liquor bottle. I made a brown windshield (is it called a windshield when in space? spacewind?) and photographed it on a green background (oh yes, and the ship was silver, of course) so as to provide colors to be keyed out for special-effects purposes.

So, my tattoo has become significantly less dark/saturated. Even so, I'm cool with it. I may get it touched up, but I'm not sure. We shall see.

Because I made the other one stop working. So, you see, I had succeeded in making the camera work without the propriety power supply, but then I got greedy. I wanted the camera to be sleeker, so I removed the handle and the eyepiece. The camera still worked after the removal of the handle, but after I removed the eyepiece, it no longer did. I tried rewiring it together, but due to there being multiples of the same color wire. I know that I can do it, but going through all of the possibilities of the colored wires would take a long time, so I just went back to the second-hand store and got the other one in the set for free. This one can do titles, so, woot.

Below are pictures of, respectively, old camera in a shambles, new camera with awesome circuity exposed, close up on the tiny cathode ray tube eyepiece from the CC007, and my childhood sesame street record player (just for fun).

The Great Machine

Just two days ago I finished the first draft of a science fiction script. It is 17 pages long, but I formatted the script incorrectly, so I just assume it will be around 20ish minutes once I actually produce it.

This movie will hopefully be shot of my RCA CC007 model video camera what I bought at second mile. It is missing the unit which serves as both power and video adapter, and the cheapest one I could find on teh heh internetzzz was about $240 (too much). So...I am making it myself. I just need a new AC adapter of the proper power and to figure out exactly how to wire the ancient composite video-out format into normal video.

As for the special effects needed for this film, I plan to do them all as digital pixilations and also using green-screen methods.

Needless to say, I am very excited.
